Terms of Service
Effective Date: September 2024
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing or using the Ditch Ads browser extension (the "Extension") or by visiting ditchads.com (the "Website"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Extension or the Website. Ditch Ads reserves the right to update these terms at any time.
2. Description of Service
Ditch Ads is a free browser extension that removes ads from the pages you visit, hides leftover ad spaces, and trims ads on YouTube so pages load faster and read cleaner. You can allowlist sites you choose to support, and an optional Ditch Ads search experience is available. The Extension is distributed through the Mozilla Firefox Add-ons Marketplace (AMO), and the Website supports the Extension.
3. Permitted Use
The Extension is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, modify, or redistribute the Extension, and not to use it for any unlawful purpose or in any way that interferes with its normal operation or the rights of others.
4. Intellectual Property
Ditch Ads retains all rights, title, and interest in and to the Extension and Website, including the Ditch Ads name, logo, and associated assets, which are proprietary. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership rights to you.
5. Privacy
Your use of the Extension and Website is subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we handle information. Your allowlist and settings are stored on your device, and your browsing history is not sold.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Extension and Website are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will block every advertisement on every site, and we do not warrant its fitness for any particular purpose. Some websites may change in ways that affect how ads are filtered.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ditch Ads shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Extension or Website. Because the Extension is provided free of charge, our total liability shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Extension (if any) or ten US dollars (USD $10). Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
8. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ditch Ads from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Extension or Website, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any applicable law.
9. Third-Party Services
The Extension is distributed through Mozilla Add-ons (AMO) and operates on third-party websites, including YouTube, that have their own terms of service. Ditch Ads is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or responsible for the content or practices of those third parties. Your use of third-party services remains subject to their own terms.
10. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Extension or Website at any time, with or without notice. You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it from your browser.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California. Nothing in this section waives any mandatory rights you may have under the GDPR or other applicable data-protection laws in your jurisdiction.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Material changes will be noted with an updated effective date on this page. Your continued use of the Extension or Website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
